Strep throat or astreptococcal pharyngitis in medical term is nothing but the infection caused by the bacteria called streptococcus. This is commonly affecting anyone one time or another. This infection spares no one; children, teenagers, and adult alike. It is important to know that strep throat is different from ordinary sore throat.   Sore throat, a viral infection, can cure by itself while this strep throat persists longer and more severe. Cold is the simplest indication of a simple sore throat.

Steps

  1. Strep throat when left untreated in the soonest possible time can lead to serious implications and complications. People having weaker system of immunity are the ones largely at risk of catching this infection. People should be aware of strep throat’s symptoms so as not to be confused with another disease or infection. It can be mild, moderate, or severe but all depends in the infection’s severity.
Younger people, when infected with the bacteria, have a mild fever and in some cases gives them chills.. Headache is also manifested. Neck aches and body aches because their lymph nodes are swollen. Frequent crying and irritability will be brought about by the discomfort they are suffering. That may irritate their throat thus resulting to sore throat and in some cases appearance of white spots in the tonsils. Loss of appetite could result because of that. They may eat or drink less because of swollen throat. Swollen throat will bring difficulty from swallowing any intake of either food or drink. Scarlatina or Strep throat rash is another symptom. Scarlet blotches may appear in the neck area, to some other parts, or all over the body depending on the condition. Cough is also a symptom as well as sneezing and clogged nose. Ear pain is experienced when we sneeze too much and our nose clogged. Adult manifests the same symptoms as that of the babies but the younger ones are likely to suffer the most because they cannot express themselves much yet.

Tips

While symptoms of strep throat may differ or may be alike from babies to adult, it is with utmost importance that people should remember that strep throat is a bacterial infection and is contagious. It occurs anytime to anyone but it happens most during snow season. By knowing whatsymptoms to look for, getting infected or you infecting someone else of strep throat can be less likely.
